"Curator's Tour of Graphic Design"

Daniel Eatock’s prints were so interesting. The way that the magic markers made all of the marks was just so cool, especially the way that they played with the use of negative space, and how each one was unique. It was simultaneously hands-on and hands-off. It felt like bubbles or party confetti and just felt nice.

Canham and Bartels’s birdhouse exhibit was borderline amusing and pretty cute. Not sure if that was their intention, but the idea of a little bird mortuary just makes me giggle.

"An Introduction to Graphic Design"

The included image of the “New York Times” website from when this article was written, as opposed to what it looks like now, I found to be interesting. It made me think about how in just a couple of short years, popular design choices and digital interfaces have morphed into something a lot more simplistic, just like with the Google Chrome icon. Additionally, one in the article stood out to me.

“Creativity can defeat habit.”

-Richard Grefe, Executive Director of AIGA

Things I'd love to make someday:

  • Band logos
  • Concept art for games/movies
  • Illustration
  • Book covers/jackets, especially for fantasy novels
  • Display posters for new book releases
  • Tarot card deck
  • Album covers
  • A more interactive E-Reader app. For instance, if the Kindle app had a linkable interface for music/ambient playlists, or if it could trigger certain songs on certain pages.
  • Fantasy maps!
  • DnD Guidebook
  • Posters for tours
